From Reason Online, harsh but deserved words for John McCain. What a shame: elven years ago I would've happily followed that guy anywhere, on the strength of just his commencement address to my class.* In the WashTimes article (see link), McCain says, "we've got to reform the Federal Election Commission." Well, why not? He's already "reformed" campaign finance and, more importantly, the First Amendment. I wonder what other constitutional provisions he'd like to "reform." Heck, why not just let him rewrite the whole thing for us?
As best I can tell, the man's conceit knows no bounds.
And yes, he's a genuine hero in my book, and there's an awful lot about him to respect and admire. I just wish he weren't in a position to screw with my Constitution.

*A line from McCain's speech that I'd forgotten but that, in retrospect, really jumps out at you: "I have seen the swift boats roar into harm's way, vulnerable even to small arms fire, and defenseless save for the quick instincts and steel nerves of their crews."
